VinFast VF7

The VF7 is distinguished by its unique and bold design, which feels both futuristic and functional. Its front end doesn't have a traditional grille since it's an EV, but instead features clean lines and V-shaped LED daytime running lights that get attention and give it a signature look. The entire attitude is wide and athletic, helping it to stand out among rivals.

Viewed from the side, the VF7 sports aerodynamic 19'' dual-tone wheels, flush door handles and sharp shoulder lines, that give it a modern silhouette. The panoramic glass roof (for higher level variants) is an addition to the premium appearance and allows more light into the cabin to make the profile look open and airy.

At the back, hooked-up LED taillights illuminate the back-end and bring the design together. The lack of exhaust pipes helps to cement its electric identity, while the sculpted bumper and integrated design details make it absolutely complete. Overall, the VF7 is able to be both style and useful, and its design is certain to be noticed on the road.

Step inside and the VF7 feels right away like modern and well laid out. The cabin design is minimalist but practical with premium feeling vegan leather upholstery and soft touch materials to give the cabin an upscale feel. You get a choice of interior themes -- mostly black or a combination of mocha brown and black -- that make the cabin feel rather sporty or more tasteful depending on your preference.

Unlike conventional cars, VF7 does not have its separate instruments cluster behind the steering. Instead, it has a large central touchscreen and a heads-up display to display information of driving, which makes the dashboard less cluttered and modern.

The seats are spacious and supportive and long wheelbase (2,840 mm) provide ample legroom in the rear making it comfortable for five seated adults on long journeys. A flat floor - common in EVs - also adds to interior space and comfort, especially for rear passengers.

Features such as a large central touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic roof (on select variants) and connected car technology make this VF7 feel interesting to use on a daily basis.

Safety is very important to the VF7. It comes with a comprehensive suite of safety features including multiple airbags, electronic stability control and a suite of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and blind spot detection.

In independent testing, the VF7 got a 5 star safety rating by Bharat NCAP, one of the best levels of crash protection in India. This best rating helps reassure buyers if they are not compromising on safety to achieve features or performance.

Practicality is also very good with a boot space of approximately 537 litres, ideal for family trips or luggage, groceries or even sports equipment. The flat floor and smart storage spaces throughout the cabin add to usability that has made VF7 a good all -round daily driver and weekend cruiser.

The VF7 has two principal powertrain choices:

FWD single motor variant about 201 PS 310 NM - smooth and efficient while driving in the city and on the highway.
AWD dual motor variant with up to around 348 throttle horsepower and 500 lbs.-ft of force output - strong acceleration and confidence inspiring performance.

The AWD version has a very quick gas and, according to independent testing, can achieve a sprint from 0-100 km/h in about 6 seconds, at such a price - this is a lightning-fast outcome for an electric SUV.

Driving feel overall is composed and stable. The VF7's suspension and weight distribution helps keep it down and when you're at a higher speed and it may not be a sports SUV but it does feel refined and confident on most types of roads. Cornering is predictable and the steering has good weight especially in Sport mode, making it fun to drive whether it is for daily use or on longer journeys.

One nice thing about EVs like the VF7 is instant torque which means smooth power without lag. This makes highway overtaking and merging a breeze. Range figures are strong too - depending on the version - with WLTP claims of around 510km on a charge at a charge meaning long drives are possible with good charging planning.

Because it's a rightfully completely-ev electric SUV equipped with a 70kWh+ battery, the VF7 is capable of decent real-life range. Claimed numbers state more than 430km to over 500km with a single charge depending on variant and conditions. Fast charging capability also means the battery can charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in about 25 minutes on compatible DC fast chargers, which helps alleviate range concerns with long trips.
