Range Rover Evoque

Exterior

The Evoque looks like a Range Rover away. It has an strong design, with clean body panels and a confident stance. It borrows design ideas from Range Rover models. Like slim LED headlights a signature grille and Range Rover lettering on the bonnet. All of which make it look premium without being too flashy.

From the side the Evoques door handles flush and its wheel arches are bold making it look athletic and modern. Even though its small for its class its proportions make it look bigger than it is and features like contrasting roof colours add to its appeal.

Interior

When you get inside you can tell it's premium. The cabin has soft-touch materials, premium leather seats and metallic accents that make it feel upscale and comfortable. There's an infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay a digital driver display a big sunroof and features you'd expect in a luxury SUV, like heated and ventilated seats dual-zone climate control and ambient lighting.

The seats are supportive and cushioned for trips and the layout keeps most controls within easy reach. Leather-wrapped surfaces and trim work give it a feel that matches the premium badge.

That said the Evoques cabin doesn't feel as big as some competitors and rear visibility can feel a bit tight because of the sloping roof and smaller glass area.

Safety

The Evoque is strong on safety with many systems included as standard. This includes six airbags, stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat mounts, parking sensors, hill launch assist, hill descent control and a 360-degree camera. All of which help make driving feel confident and controlled.

The Evoque also got a 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. A benchmark for a luxury SUV.

Boot Space

The Evoques boot space is practical for its size. You get room for weekend luggage and everyday stuff. When you fold the rear seats down the space expands for bigger items. While its not the boot in the class its shape and accessibility make it easy to load everyday items.

Performance

The Evoque doesn't just look premium. It feels powerful. Refined to drive. Its offered with hybrid petrol and diesel engines that deliver strong performance. The petrol version produces around 250 PS. Handles 0-100 km/h in about 7.6 seconds while the diesel produces strong torque and pulls smoothly.

The transmission is a smooth 9-speed automatic and all-wheel drive comes standard giving you confidence on the highway or on surfaces.

The Evoques character. Refined but confident. Makes it enjoyable to drive without sacrificing comfort. It's not the kind of SUV you're pushing hard around every corner. It handles everyday tasks with ease.

Ride and Handling

The Evoques ride quality is a point. The suspension is tuned for comfort soaking up bumps and rough patches without unsettling the cabin. On roads it feels calm and composed making it easy to spend long hours behind the wheel.

Handling is precise enough for city driving and confident lane changes though the rear glass and sloping roofline can make parking and tight manoeuvres a bit more challenging. Still the SUV feels. Poised, with body control that inspires confidence.

The Evoque can also handle off-road conditions. With Terrain Response systems and AWD the Evoque can take on gravel, mud and light off-road conditions more capably, than most luxury SUVs making it a flexible choice if you like weekend adventures.
